Breakfast of Champions!
Parents: Want to help your students succeed in school? Make sure they eat breakfast! A large percentage of the students I see in my office for any reason at all have not eaten breakfast.
Keeping blood sugar stable throughout the day is like making sure there is gas in your car's tank so you can drive to all the places you need to visit throughout the day. Our students have busy, demanding schedules, and we need to make sure they are nourished and hydrated.
If your student "doesn't have time" for breakfast, please have "portables" (cereal bars, granola bars, cheese sticks, bananas, nuts, yogurt cups) easy for them to grab and take with them to eat before they start class (and maybe during brunch too!).

You can sign up for MySchoolBucks which allows parents to deposit money on their children's school meal account so they can securely use their student I.D. card to purchase food. Please see me if there is a need for free or reduced cost lunches.
Lastly, we all know that students are hungry after school. Helping make sure that they have healthy snacks available to them rather than foods high in sugar, fat and caffeine, will support better energy levels for their after-school activities and homework, as well as healthy sleeping patterns.
